Carols in the Square
Tuesday 5 December 2017

There are still 31 days to Christmas Day but in Battersea Square the festive season gets off to an early start on Tuesday 5 December with Carols in the Square, organised by the Friends of Battersea Square and generously sponsored by John D Wood and Co, Barratt Homes and Thomas's Battersea.

Make sure you bring your voice along, as the fun gets under way at 6.30pm, with carols and other festive songs, ably supported and encouraged by professional musicians and singers and the choir of St Mary’s Church.

Trying to keep everything order will be masters of ceremonies the Sleeping Trees (below), stars of the pantomime Scrooge and the Seven Dwarves, back for a second year by public demand.

At 7pm the tree lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Leslie McDonnell and there will be some festive surprises!! Sambrooks Beer, mulled wine, mincepies, hot chocolate and soup will be on offer. There will also be several Christmassy stalls selling seasonal decorations and Christmas candles.

Official proceedings finish at about 7.30pm but the bars, pubs and shops of Battersea Square and Battersea High Street will be open to welcome customers warmly throughout the evening.

Carols in the Square is always free to all but we do organise a collection on the night the proceeds of which are shared between two very important local charities: the Katherine Low Settlement and the Battersea Summer Scheme.

We look forward to seeing (and hearing) you in Battersea Square on Tuesday 5 December!
